2012-March25th: Framing Right Along...

Framing continues & our house is taking shape.  The exterior sheeting is going on as well as ceiling joists & rafters.  It's coming together pretty quick.  We need to get busy and get our home ready to sell!

2012-March 18th: Wall are going UP...

Our framers got going on framing on Friday. With a couple of loads of lumber to work with, they got going & quickly set up most of the walls...all that's left is some small interior walls & the garage.  I guess once all the walls are up they'll start moving onto the trusses & roof!

The boys will finally have a room of their own...

Cambria is sitting in the back patio and behind her left shoulder will be her bedroom & bath.

After living all of our lives in 8ft ceilings, 10 feet seems like this house is built for giants!

2012-March 14th: Foundation is DONE!!

Like I said...things are picking up speed & moving pretty quickly now.  The concrete people got there a little bit late this morning, but, once the pour started those guys were moving.  After 8 or so trucks of concrete got poured, our foundation is down!

That's our builder in the forefront in the tan shirt, Marcial Ramirez, talking to the engineer.

The guy in red is the engineering inspector...making sure everything is done right.

FOUNDATION...DONE!

2012-March 13th: Ready to Pour Foundation!

Take a good look 'cause this is the last time we'll see this...WE POUR THE FOUNDATION TOMORROW!!!

I'll take more pics after the foundation is down.  Our builder says he'll be ready to start framing by Thursday.  Wow, things are picking up speed now.  We're getting our order for doors & windows ready.

Stay tuned...

Hanging Out At our New Place...

We decided to get out on this beautiful afternoon & hang out at our property while dad kept working on those big mesquite trees...

Loving Cambria's pose in this one.

There's about 10 acres of woods & shrub behind our lots...plenty of room for the kids to run around & explore.

Ace is always the cheeser!

There's a water runoff that runs right behind us.  With the rain we had the past few days, the water was trickling along...pretty cool!

Christian wants a tree house, or maybe a zip line?

Cami was in a posing mood.

She's a brave one. Wait until she encounters her first critter!

The boys hanging out.

This tree is right at the edge of our property.

 Trampling through the stream.

Maybe he'll get the courage to swing on those vines, ala Tarzan!

 Cami bringing up the rear.

They were having a blast in there.

Meanwhile, daddy gets stuck working!

Our new address...10825 Julianna Dr.

Our builder...

Hate to mow these pretty wildflowers...maybe I'll mow around some.

Lots of wildflowers...they're coming out early!

Soaking up the sun.

Plumb work is in, rebar is next, followed by pouring the foundation...maybe on Wednesday (3/14).

Week 1-House Build Update

The plumbers have come in & laid out their pipes.  We've passed that inspection & now it's on to getting it all ready for pouring the foundation.  Right now we're scheduled to pour on Wednesday (3/14/12) and hopefully everything stays on schedule!

We are taking the plunge!!!

After many months of looking & hoping to find the right place for our growing brood, we decided to build on a couple of lots we found that were the perfect place for the house we had in mind. Situated in a quiet area in Annaville (suburb of Corpus Christi) we are now the owners of a 1/2 acre in a rolling area between I-37 & the Nueces River.

We got a little delayed with loan applications and building permits with the city, but, now that all that is cleared things are starting to move rather quickly. This is day 3 and our builder has already cleared some big mesquite trees, moved some dirt around, brought a few loads of sand, & has already started putting down some forms for our foundation. Christina & the kids (as well as I) are pretty excited. We've met with our neighbors & they are some great people we are looking forward to knowing better.

Here is a panoramic picture of our site. I'll keep posting as things are moving along...stay tuned!
